René E. McWhorter, 58, of Portland, passed away on April 20, 2016. René was born in Portland to Max and Elaine (Hall) Helfer. She was raised with three siblings. René was a graduate of Franklin High School. During her childhood she was a champion roller-skater. René was passionate about the upkeep of her home. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and creating all types of arts and crafts with her grandchildren. René is preceded in death by her parents & brother, Leroy. She is survived by her husband Chris; children, Jake & Jill (Jason); step daughters, Katie and Trisha; grandchildren, Alexandria, Helena, Jasynda, Thomas, Grace and Callie. René will be truly missed. She will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
