Richard worked as an ironworker, a trade that reflected the steady strength and resolve he carried through life. Those who knew him recognized a man with a rugged exterior and an unshakable sense of self—someone who held firmly to his convictions and chose, without apology, to live in the way that felt true to him.
Richard spent 15 years with Jennifer, whom he met at Canron, their mutual employer. Their relationship was shaped by the kind of devotion that ran deep: a love that showed itself not in pretense, but in sincerity, loyalty, and the quiet ways he looked after those who mattered most. Jennifer was drawn to his sweet but edgy nature, and together they built years marked by shared time and shared joys.
Outside of work, Richard found freedom and pleasure in riding motorcycles, and he took real enjoyment in cooking and trying new restaurants. A favorite for both Richard and Jennifer was McMenamins' Edgefield, a place that became part of the rhythm of their life together and a setting for simple, meaningful moments. He loved going to the coast and slowing down to enjoy the scenery. He was a simple man who just loved being outdoors, spending time with his kids and grandkids as well as hosting holidays. He always dressed so dapper and took cooking and hosting for the family very serious and wanted everything perfect, he was a very traditional mannered man when it came to holidays and putting on the full spread. He loved Louisiana and the culture, crawfish boils and the easygoing energy of New Orleans lifestyle. His love of New Orleans was only outweighed by his love for his soulmate Jennifer.
Beneath Richard’s tough exterior was a generous heart. He cared deeply, loved fiercely, and will be remembered for the strength of his will and the unmistakable way he pursued what made him happy, regardless of what others thought. His presence leaves a lasting imprint on those who were fortunate enough to be within the circle of his care.
A public celebration of life will be held September 26th from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at 14115 S Ridge Oak Ln., Molalla, OR 97038.
