Richard T. Overcash
November 25, 1929 – December 1, 2019
Richard Thomas Overcash of Gresham Oregon passed away December 1st, 2019 at the age of 90. He was born to Ray and Earslie Overcash on November 25th, 1929 in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Richard enlisted in the United States Navy in 1947. He made a 23 year career moving up through the ranks to become a Chief Petty Officer and a recruit trainer.
During his service to his country he met and Lois Jean Harvey in Long Beach, California. They married on April 29th, 1952. They had 4 children, all boys.
After his Honorable Medical discharge in 1970 the family settled in Gresham, Oregon. There Richard attended Mount Hood Community College and acquired an Associate degree in Business Management and worked at Esco Steel Corporation in the shipping department retiring after working there for 18 years.
After retirement Richard and Lois spent most of those years living in Central Oregon. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid reader. He always enjoyed his kids visiting them and loved his dogs dearly.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Lois, and their oldest Son Scott. He is survived by his Sisters, Connie McConnell and Anna Meyers, both of Fort McCoy, Florida, Sons Duane Overcash of Gresham, Oregon, Wayne Overcash of Cascade Locks, Oregon, and Gregory of Wood Village, Oregon. Richard also had 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside inurnment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon at a future undetermined date.
