Richard Lee Wells passed away in Gresham, Oregon on May 3, 2021 at the age of 95. He was born on August 23, 1925 in Portland, Oregon to Ernest and Vera (Powers) Wells.

His banking career encompassed 35 years with the Bank of California (now known as The Union Bank) and an additional 7 years with various Christian organizations.

My introduction to Dick Wells came when Eastmont Baptist merged with Grace Community Church. I got to know him quickly since he was on their/our finance team. His quick smile and unpredictable humor was only surpassed by his attention to detail. He would "report" almost weekly with either, "Pastor, we're holding up pretty well," or "Pastor, you better blow the trumpet for the troops to step up their giving!" Dick was a faithful servant and a much loved brother in Christ. His sacrificial care for his wife Joan set a very high bar for all of us to learn from. We will remember him with great gratitude to God.

He was a family friend from way back. First met him and his family in the 1960 at PBC, I saw him regularly jogging in the morning in the 70s and 80s. I got my first car loan from him which was way below his pay grade, he took me to the auto loan dept. Our late father had many business and personal transactions with him in the banking world.
I, we, know you are resting in peace with God. Sincerely, The Vahey family.
