Rick was born February 28, 1956 to Antonette Jones-’Deutsch and Loren St.Clair, at a logging camp in Scotia, California. His parents later divorced in 1963. He graduated from Gresham Union High School in 1974, and attended Oregon State University from 1975 to 1976 for pre-engineering. He went on to earn several degrees from Mt. Hood Community College in General Studies, Ford ASSET, and Environmental Health and Safety Management.
Rick spent many years pursuing his artistic interests. He was very talented in stained glass, fused glass, both hand-built and wheel thrown pottery, as well as watercolor and acrylic painting. He went on to teach watercolor painting for several years. There were many career paths that were of interest to Rick, but he found his final destination most rewarding. He was the Administrator of Cognitive Enrichment Concepts (CEC).
Rick was well known as the guy who could repair anything from a busted garage door, broken toilet, fragile piece of china, to the heirloom watch you have been wanting to wear.
Rick had a one-of–a-kind voice in both speaking and singing. A double-bass with a rich tone. He sang with a local gospel octet named ReviveUs that performs across the country. ReviveUs is predominantly composed of men originating from Symonia. Rick was teasingly labeled the guy from the shady side of the island.
Children often thought Rick sounded like Santa Clause, and were given a knowing wink. Soon they would hear in the distance a hearty ho-ho-ho.
Rick is preceded in death by his father, Loren, in 2020; younger sister, Denise, in 2012; grandparents, Tom and Mildred Jones; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Becky St. Clair, married June 12, 1976; sons, Joshua, Michael, and Daniel; mother, Antonette Evans; and half-brother, Michael St.Clair.
A celebration of life for Rick will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Hood View Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 26775 SE Kelso Road, Boring, OR 97009.
