Rita R. Maitland

Rita Ruth Maitland went to be with her Lord in Heaven on June 19, 2014. She was born on November 26, 1921 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to parents Elmer and Agnes Cairns. On June 30, 1939 she married George Maitland, and they raised a family together in Michigan until 1960, when they moved to Sandy, Oregon.

Rita was a strong and adventurous woman who loved to hunt and fish- catching fish that were as bug as she was! She also loved to travel, and lived for a time in Koloa, Hawaii. Rita was especially fond of the ocean and scenery. She spent her last years in the Hope N Care Home after a serious accident left her unable to live on her own. Rita was a hard worker, doing many different jobs over the years; more than anything she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son George E. Maitland, and her siblings George Cairns, June Geiger, Eleanor Zagaiski, Bernice Shell, Donald Cairns, Elmer Cairns and Deanna Bailey. She is survived by her children, her many grandchildren, and her many, many great-grandchildren.Arrangements under the direction of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham, OR.
