Bob was born on 9-26-1932 in Denver, Colorado to a large Germans-from-Russia family. He moved to California in 1951 and attended USC. Bob joined the JACL and worked on their behalf. In gratitude, he was taught bonsai by a Japanese expert. This began his life-long avocation of bonsai. He worked for the City of Santa Ana, the County of San Mateo, and later as a general contractor. Bob moved to Gresham, Oregon in 1997 with his wife, Lynne. Bob loved designing and building, singing in the choir, children, and working in the garden and with his many bonsai. He died in Gresham, Oregon on 9-27-2011. Bob will be missed by his loving family, including children, stepchildren, and grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at Eastrose UU Fellowship at a date to be determined. Donations may be made to Eastrose Fellowship Unitarian Universalist or to the Bonsai Society of Portland, Oregon.
