Ron was born on May 17, 1938, in Portland, OR to Russell & Zelda (Raab) Speed. He graduated from Gresham High School and was the star pitcher on their baseball team. He married Charlene Norma Ott in 1957.
He was an active member of Gresham First Baptist Church and highly valued time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed baseball, football and basketball. He loved nature and frequently went for scenic walks, hikes, and drives. He also kept up a beautiful garden.
Ron is survived by his wife, Charlene; brother, Russell Speed; sister, Marilyn Thurein; son, Kenton (Coleen) Speed; daughter, Bethany (Keith) Valachi; Grandchildren, Brittany, Courtney and Lacey; Great grandchildren, Noelle and Faith.
A memorial service is scheduled for November 9, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Gresham First Baptist Church
