

Roy Joseph Popejoy Jr, 74 of Portland OR, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. He was born on May 27, 1942 in St. Helens, Oregon to Roy Sr. and Evelyn Anna (Gortler) Popejoy. He graduated from St. Helens High School in 1961 and served in the Army National Guard of Oregon from 1963 to 1969. Roy worked for Blitz Weinhard for over 30 years before his retirement and continued working at Toby’s Sports Pub for several more years.
Roy was a current member of the American Legion Aloha Post 104 and past member of the Gateway Elks. Roy was an avid Ducks Fan, enjoyed golfing and liked to travel – including his many trips to Mexico.
Roy is survived by his daughters Kara Freeland of Troutdale OR and Niki Robins (Brian) of Camas WA; sisters Marzella Coughlin of St. Helens OR, Vicki Olsen (Jim) of Portland OR and Kathy Hogland (Brian) of Damascus OR; grandchildren Danny Freeland, Jeffrey Freeland, Taylor Freeland, Tristan Robins and Faith Robins and great grandchildren Rexson Freeland and Tristin Freeland.
A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon.
