Sandra was born May 5, 1955, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Jeremiah and Delores Garrett. Delores later divorced and remarried Galven Irby in December of 1957, from that point on Sandra was raised in a loving, blended family.
She attended Wilson and Reynolds High schools and, after graduation, spent 2 years at Mt Hood Community College. She had many jobs but settled in on a career and later retired form Providence in the business office.
Sandra was an exceptional lifelong Artist and Potter. Her talents had a wide range, and she enjoyed painting, crafting, sculpting, and potting. She was also a collector and movie buff and acquired quite a video collection. One could always catch the latest movie with her at home. She was close with her family and enjoyed the company of friends. While she never married or had any children of her own, she was best known as “Auntie Sandy” to her nieces and nephews, and they love her dearly. Sandra took loving care of her mom and dad in their later years. Sandra was a devout Christian and member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church; she lived her life under the direction of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her brothers and sisters, Barbra Pittman, Grace (Tom) Ross, Kelley (Theresa) Garrett, Dr. Vicki Strickland, and Craig (Susan) Irby, eleven nieces and nephews, family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Parkrose Chateau Retirement Living for their support and Perida Derocher and her staff at Blackberry Adult Care for their outstanding loving in-home care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America or your local Food Bank.
A service will be conducted at Gethsemane Lutheran Church 11 am November 1st, 2025 .
