Born on May 4, 1946, in Dallas, Oregon, Sandy was raised in Portland by her mother Marge and stepfather Don, along with her sister Debbie (Jondahl). She learned a tireless work ethic that would define her life. She graduated from David Douglas High School in 1964 and soon after began a long and dedicated career with Pacific Northwest Bell. For 32 years, she worked as a telephone operator, retiring in 1996. Her commitment to her work was exceeded only by her dedication to those she loved.
Sandy met the love of her life, Bill Lueders, while he was serving in the Navy. They married in 1966 and their marriage spanned 42 years until his passing. Together they built a life centered around family and shared adventures. They raised their daughters with warmth and joy, often taking road trips that became cherished memories for all.
Family was at the heart of everything Sandy did. She adored her daughters, Debbie (Strojan) and Annie (Gradis), and found immense joy in being a grandmother to Jack, Piper, Nathan, Owen, and Sean.
Known for her boundless energy and infectious laugh, Sandy was always on the go—whether tending to her yard with care or enjoying the company of family. She also had a fondness for spending time on her computer, playing games and staying engaged with the world around her.
Sandy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her two daughters, five grandchildren, and sister. She will be buried beside her husband at Willamette National Cemetery.
