Suzanne was the youngest daughter of Fremont and Gladys Hudson of Portland. Born and raised in Portland, she went to Grant High School and graduated in 1967. Suzanne held many different jobs over the years, but nothing rose higher on her list of priorities than being a loving and caring wife and mother.
Suzanne met Stan while in high school. They married just weeks after graduating high school, and relocated to Medford, Oregon. After a couple years in southern Oregon, they moved back to Portland, Oregon. They had added two children to their family and remained in Multnomah County.
The majority of her work life was spent as a teacher’s assistant within the Reynold’s School District. She served 28 years spread primarily over HB Lee Middle School, Troutdale Elementary, Sweetbriar Elementary and Fairview Elementary. Her patient and encouraging demeanor is lovingly remembered by many students who passed through those classrooms.
She was an avid sewist, even making her own wedding dress in 1967. Throughout the years, Suzanne used these talents to sew and alter clothing for her children and others. In 1989 she completed her daughter’s very detailed wedding dress. Suzanne greatly enjoyed sewing for others through church ministry opportunities. Both the fellowship of other Christian women and the creative, giving outlet, filled her heart with so much joy.
Suzanne went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, at the age of 76. She passed away from liver disease, which she endured with for over twenty years, never complaining, always optimistic. Her hope relied solely in the Lord, from the time she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at 18 years old.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys (Hudson) Capps; her father, Fremont Hudson; and her sister, Jacqueline Chandler. She is survived by her husband, Stan; her children, Shannon Michael (Eddie), and David Boyer; her seven grandchildren, Chelsea Shaffer, Grant Michael, Tim Boyer, Greg Michael, Lauren Lehner, Tia Boyer, and Gavin Michael; and her five great-grandchildren, Calvin, Anthony, Bradley, Gabriel and Sloane.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3
