Mr. Thomas Tom Melvin Ehlers

Tom was born on July 28, 1954 in Portland, Oregon and was the son of Melvin and Dorothy (Vick) Ehlers. He graduated from Parkrose High School and completed his Associates Degree at Mt. Hood Community College. He worked for Peter Corvallis Productions for nearly 15 years.

Tom married Paula Lourenco in 1979 at Faith Lutheran Church in Portland. They had one daughter and were later divorced.

He had many hobbies. Tom loved movies, music, computers and photography. He also enjoyed the outdoors, water skiing, hunting and golf. He was an avid Trail Blazers Fan and was a long time member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Portland where he participated in the hand bell choir.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Nicole Vaicunas of Portland, brother, John Ehlers of Vancouver and sister, Mary Brown of Portland.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Portland. Contributions may be made in memory of Tom to the American Diabetes Association. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
