Mr. Akita was a longtime neighbor, a kind and gentle man. Many of the plants and trees in our yard came from his nursery and it was always interesting to visit with him about his products.

My deepest condolences to my cousins Carol, Toni and Mark and to the rest of the Akita family. I was saddened to hear about Uncle Toots' passing. He gave me the love of growing and propagating plants beginning with the excursion he took me to harvest dogwood seeds.
