Violet Alyea passed away on September 6, 2012 in Portland. She was born in Herrick, SD on May 24, 1923 to parents Mary and Floyd Cline. She spent her early years in Idaho, and moved to Oregon when she was 10 with her family. On October 29, 1942 she married John Alyea at the age of 19. Together they had 2 children and 54 wonderful years of marriage until John’s passing in 1997.
Violet was a compassionate and caring woman. Her heart was full of kindness and love for those around her, and she was always willing to help in any manner she could. She was a gentle woman, who raised her children with much affection and respect. She liked to garden, sew, cook and make crafts. Violet was also a great hostess, and as a pastor’s wife, entertained often. She loved to dance with her husband and spend time with her family.
Violet is preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her son Harold E. Alyea of Molalla, OR and her daughter Alice Stratch of Troutdale, OR; as well as 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
