

Walter Strous passed away October 8, 2012 in Gresham, Oregon. He was born September 16, 1927 in Tacoma, Washington, to parents Walter and Lois Strous. Walt spent his early years in Dupont, WA, just outside Tacoma. He moved to Gresham as a child, and graduated from Gresham H.S. in 1945. In 1954 he married Marva (Irvin) in Portland, and together they had 2 children.
Walt spent 40 years working at Reynolds Metals and retired in 1985 as the carbon plant supervisor. He was also a Charter Member of the Gresham Elks. After retirement, Walt enjoyed going to Yuma, AZ for the winter with his wife. He loved to travel and be outdoors, so family trips were common. Walt also loved hunting, fishing, and RV travel. He was very social, and loved having friends and family over to play cards. Walt was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Walt is preceded in death by his wife, Marva Strous. He is survived by his son Larry Strous of Clackamas, OR; daughter Janice Ackley of Gresham; sisters Naomi Brown of Van Nuys, CA and Marlene Schafer of Cerritos, CA; as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
