William Warren Ure, 87 of Gresham OR, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He was born on February 15, 1929 in Spokane, Washington to Charles and Helen Ure. He graduated from Yakima High School in 1948 and served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1952. William married Virginia Rose Whiteman on July 11, 1953 in Yakima, Washington.
He apprenticed for four years and worked for 39 years as an engraver pressman at Fine Arts Engravers in Portland, Oregon. He attended Rose City Methodist for many years. William enjoyed swimming, hiking, walking, cars and photography. He was an animal lover, collected dog figurines and was an avid Mariners fan.
William is survived by his wife Virginia Ure of Gresham OR; daughters Joetta Ohren (Joe) of Gresham OR and Judith Ure (Scott Summers) of Redmond OR; grandson Allen Greenman (Briauna) of Sandy OR and great grandson Oliver Greenman. William was preceded in death by his daughter Christine Ure.
A Celebration of William’s Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the Timberline Room of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Military Honors and Interment will be at 1:30pm on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
