Bill was born on Thursday, September 20th, 1962 to John and Carrie Walck at the General Memorial Hospital in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Bill was the middle of eleven kids, survived by siblings Sherry, Brenda, Steve, Craig, Barbara, Tom, John, Linda, Mike and Jennifer.
Bill grew up in Bushkill Pennsylvania, a quaint community nestled in the Pocono Mountains. Bill graduated from East Stroudsburg High School alongside his brother Tom in 1980.
Shortly after, Bill joined the United States Navy and served as an Engine Room Machinist on the USS Kansas City, rising to Machinist Mate Petty Officer Third Class (E-4), before being honorably discharged in 1984. During his service, Bill was deployed to the Pacific and earned multiple decorations including a Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
Bill returned home and reconnected with his high school sweetheart Lisa Marie Ring. Bill and Lisa moved to Oregon in 1985 to help Lisa’s parents, James and Judith Ring, operate Union Creek Resort near Crater Lake and married each other in 1986. Bill fell in love with Oregon and began planting his roots in the Pacific Northwest.
Bill and Lisa moved north in 1990, first to Tualatin, then Aloha, before finally settling in Sherwood, Oregon in 1997. They were married for 25 years and raised three children together; Shawn David, Jacquelyn Marie, and Geoffrey Michael.
Bill was known for having a big heart and loving his family unconditionally. He took pride in his work and made a name for himself as arguably the best heavy equipment operator in the Northwest. Bill served as superintendent and foreman to Civil Works NW, a company he devoted more than twenty years of his life to.
Bill is survived by his siblings and children, listed above, as well as his granddaughters Lainey Rae and Wesley Mae.
