On the evening of Sunday, January 3, 2016 the life of William Lewis White was completed as he called home to rest. William was born in Wadena, Minnesota, April 28, 1944 to Father Leonard White and mother Irma White. William had three sisters Iniz, Eva, and Ruthie as well as two brothers Charles and Gene.
As a young country boy William grew up in Verndale, Minnesota. He was a member of the Hope Chapel Country Church (Non-denominational)
William also played football, baseball, basketball and track.
He was a member of future farmers of America. He graduated from Verndale high school in 1962 he worked for a small grocery called E&G were he was taught his life long trade to be a meat cutter. It was also in 1962 William moved west to Oregon he moved in with his established uncle Wilbur Wilburs wife Milly and their three daughters Karen, Sandy, and Jeanne.
During this time William was working as a meat cutter when he met his life long love companion and partner of 50 years Connie Thode the two were married April 16, 1966. In the years that followed William and Connie laid their roots in SE Portland and never looked back.
In 1984, William and Connie designed and opened Whites Country Meats from nothing more then a vision and hard work. William ran the day to day with Connie by his side doing the books. The two continued to operate this iconic business located in Gresham for the next twelve years. In 1996 they sold Whites Country Meats to long time family friends Russ and Robin Fiegner whom still own and operate this as a family business with their son Randy.
In his retirement years, William and Connie were avid Rv'ing from one exciting destination after another and another. Through out his life William was a great mentor, best friend, family man, devoted husband, the toughest of men but the most generous with his time and spirt, the life of the party, the first man at work and the last man to leave, the king of the bbq, the man to truly listen and want to know everyone's story but who could also tell the best of stories, he had the biggest smile you'd ever see and always had the brightest twinkle in his eyes. BUT IN ALL OF THIS IF I HAD NEVER ONCE MENTIONED A NAME EVERYONE WHOM READ THIS WOULD ALL SAY THIS IS THE LIFE OF WILLIAM LEWIS WHITE "Bill".
We all love and miss you so much
