Mrs. Jenkins was born in Griffin, daughter of the late Paul R. and Corrine B. Daniel. Barbara attended Griffin High School where along with some schoolmates, including her sweetheart Marvin Jenkins, she decided to put off graduation one more year and attend the first 12th grade class. Barbara a cheerleader and Marvin a football player seemed destined to be together. They were married after Barbara attended Wesleyn College and Marvin returned from WWII. Barbara was born to teach. She taught a lot of Griffin’s two left footers how to ballroom dance. She also led ceramics classes and taught art with the City of Griffin Recreation Department, from where she retired. She painted as a hobby but turned out some masterpieces, of which family members would confiscate at any chance they could.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her husband and sweetheart of 65 plus years, T. Marvin Jenkins; two sons and a daughter and their spouses, Chip and Jennifer Jenkins, Kreg and Kim Jenkins and Babs J. and Steven Fouts; grandchildren and their spouses, Seth and Rachel Jenkins, Kelly and McCain Hamrick; great-grandchild, Ava Jenkins; cousins and their families. Also, Barbara’s many longtime friends and her loving church family at First Christian Church of Griffin.
The family extends a special love and appreciation to Hope Thorpe and the other ladies that helped Barbara during her time of need.
