

Mrs. Long was born August 17, 1931 in Griffin, daughter of the late John Henry and Ida Griggers Hatchett. She had many talents and among those were: playing guitar and piano, singing on the radio, writing songs and completing her first CD at age of 76. She was a master seamstress and had a love of flowers. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Akin; brothers, E.T. Hatchett, Otis Hatchett and Winfred Hatchett and sister, Alma Shannon.
Mrs. Long is survived by her husband, C.W. Long of Griffin; children & their spouses, Wanda & Ken Gran of Concord, Nancy & Jimmy Taylor of Griffin, Lisa & Scott Kilcrease of Williamson, Randy & Laney Long of Barnesville, Darryl & Kathy Long of Griffin and Cindy Smith of Barnesville; grandchildren, Allison Dickson, Drew Jackson, Wesley Kilcrease and Joshua Kilcrease; great-grandchildren, Lauren Tharpe, Ian Jackson and Olivia Dickson and special daughter Denise Eady.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty “Peggy” Long will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. John Nance and Rev. Winfred Dixson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rehoboth Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
