
Rev. Jackson was born March 11, 1921 in Hampton son of the late Leonard Ed Jackson and the late Maggie Stephens Jackson. He was the first convert under the tent when Journey Pirkel started First Assembly of God. Rev. Jackson was ordained as an Assemblies of God Pastor in 1950 having pastored at Clinchfield Assembly of God in Clinchfield, GA, Bellwood Assembly of God in Atlanta, GA, First Assembly of God in Valdosta, GA, Faith Temple Assembly of God in Griffin, GA; Abundant Life Assembly of God in Jackson, GA, First Assembly of God in Thomasville, GA, First Assembly of God in Cairo, GA and Chaplain for the Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, GA. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps from August 12, 1942 until February 3, 1946 having served during WWII in the European African Theater and Middle Eastern Service where he served as Rifleman and Mess Sergeant. He received the Bronze Star, Victory Medal, American Service Star and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Annie Laura Chambliss Jackson of Griffin; children, Laura Jean Jackson of Tallahassee, FL, Clifford Ray Jackson of McDonough, Tempie Fay Kitchens of Griffin and Dorothy Clarice Jackson of McDonough; grandchildren, Barbee Jackson Alderson, Madison Jackson, Isabella Jackson, Roshelle Kitchens Speir and Ashley Kitchens Johnson; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth & Joseph Alderson, Clarice, Jiana & Josiah Speir and siblings, Grady Jackson and Maggie Jackson Marshall.
Funeral services for Rev. Clarence Walter Jackson will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Ray Jackson and Rev. Raymond Parker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
