

He was born in Williamson, GA on July 26, 1936, to the late John E. Washington and Verlula Stapleton Washington. Mr. Washington was a member of Second Baptist Church since the age of fifteen. He served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and also served in several other areas of the church. Mr. Washington worked in automotive sales for over 50 years. After serving as general manager for Milling Motor Company, he continued on with Chronic until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years. Mr. Washington was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Washington is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Barbara J. Washington, son Mark Washington and wife Joy of Griffin, daughter Angie Travis and husband Brian of Canton. Five grandchildren, Andy Washington, Kara Washington, Chase Travis, Alexa Travis and Addison Travis as well as other relatives.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday November 28, 2010, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Hasiten McCullough Funeral Home. Dr. David Hill and Rev. Ralph Simmons will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:30 PM until service time.
As per Mr. Washington’s request, at the conclusion of the service he will be cremated and laid to rest privately in Westwood Gardens.
