

Mr. McGuffey was born November 21, 1937 in Griffin son of the late William Max McGuffey and the late Dannie Mae McWaters McGuffey. He joined Oak Hill Baptist Church at an early age and later joined the fellowship at Living Waters Congregational Holiness Church where he served as Deacon. Mr. McGuffey is also a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was a graduate of Middle Georgia College where he won a basketball scholarship.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Williamson McGuffey; daughters, Robbie McGuffey, Kim Cowley and Monica Owen; son & daughter-in-law, Maxie & Regina McGuffey; grandchildren, Levi & Kindy Cowley, Ryan, Makinzie and Isabella McGuffey; brothers & sister-in-law, Gene & Gwen McGuffey and Royce McGuffey; sisters & brother-in-law, Cheryl & Kenneth Ward and Nelda Gosman; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Jean & Jim Boatner and Jeanette Leach. Nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Farrell Gattis McGuffey will be held Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Liver Waters Congregational Holiness Church. Rev. Don Sansberry, Rev. Lewis James and Rev. John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Pike County. Mr. McGuffey will be taken to the church to lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
