

Mr. Harold McLean Porter, age 90 of Pikeville, TN, formerly of Griffin, GA, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Chattanooga, TN. He was born in Griffin on November 16, 1926 to the late Rice McLean Porter and Emma Lou Hamilton Porter Harris. Mr. Porter is also preceded in death by his wives, Jimmie Lou Turner Porter and Inez Nolen Manord Porter; brothers, Tommy Harris, Jack Harris; sisters, Nell Porter McBroom, Betty Harris Colquitt. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and fought in WWII. Mr. Porter was a member of East Griffin Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1999, and served faithfully in that capacity. He owned and operated Porter TV repair in Griffin for several years. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Donald Pervis of Pikeville, TN; grandchildren, Virginia John, Ruth Macklin, Daniel Scruggs, all of TN; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnston, Keegan Macklin, Kemana Macklin, all of TN; step-grandson, Frankie Manord; brother, Charles Ray Porter of Pell City, AL; niece, Rhonda and Charlie Maner and special friend; several other nieces and nephews, and neighbor, Maxine Sanders. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at the East Griffin Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Killingsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin.
