Hazel Evelyn Edwards

She was born May 9, 1921 to John G. and Nettie Buffington. She was preceded in death by her late husband Jesse H. Edwards in 2008. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the First Baptist Church of Griffin since the early 60’s. She retired from Spalding Knitting Mills as the first woman to become Superintendent of the Finishing Department in the early 1970’s.

She is survived by her son, Mike Edwards and his wife Sally of Gallatin, Tennessee. She has 3 Grandchildren, Jonathan Edwards of Mableton, Ashton Bennett of Meansville, and Chase Edwards of Gallatin. Her only surviving sibling is Wilda Saunders of Lizella, Georgia. Mrs. Edwards also has 6 Great Grandchildren, Declen, Bayler, Grayam, and Landry Bennett from Meansville and Braelynn and Lyla Jane Edwards from Mableton.

In Lieu of flowers Mrs. Edwards requested donations be sent to the First Baptist Church of Griffin, Georgia at 106 West Taylor Street. (30224). There will be a private family memorial service held to honor her Life.
