Herbert Lindsey

Dr. Lindsey was born April 30, 1924 in Griffin. He was the son of the late H.I. Lindsey and the late Mary Beeks Johnson Lindsey. He graduated from Auburn University where he was a member and former president of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a graduate of the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lindsey was a member the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Rotary Club of Griffin. He served on the Griffin Spalding County School Board. He was a director of Commercial Bank & Trust Company which was later known as First Railroad and then First Union Bank. He was a member of the Griffin Historical and Preservation Society. At one time Dr. Lindsey was the only veterinarian between Atlanta and Macon, serving the Griffin area for over 52 years. Dr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia McWilliams Lindsey.

Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fielding Lindsey (Betty) of Columbia, SC; daughter, Claire Lindsey Graham of Johns Creek, GA. and grandson, Lewis Fielding Graham of Auburn, AL.

Funeral services for Dr. Herbert Fielding Lindsey will be held Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. Hubert Flanagan will officiate. Interment will follow in the old section of the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Sunday 1 hour prior to the service.
