John Elbert Wiley

Mr. Wiley was born August 7, 1929 in Jacksonville, IL to the late John Bingley & Minnie Shields Wiley. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lewis Wayne, Ronald James & Donald Clement; sons, Lanny Keith & Warren Lee and in-laws that loved him so much, Lonnie James & Helen McKinney Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Davis Wiley; son, David Wayne Wiley; grandchildren, Dannee (Sparkle) Wiley, Anna Marie Wheeler, Matthew Wiley, Hannah Wiley, Tonya Taylor, Brittney Holloway (Sweet Pea) and Erica Fisher (Snugin); great-grandchildren, Olivia (Lolli) Wiley, Caleb Wiley, Asa Wheeler, Reef Wheeler, Owen, Benjamin and Naomi Taylor. Several special nieces & nephews also survive.

After high school Mike joined the Air Force where he worked as Instructor and Tower Operator. While he was at Robbins Air Force Base he met and married Helen Davis. He was also Tower Chief at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, GA. In later years he worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Jacksonville, FL, Memphis, TN and Atlanta, GA where he medically retired and went back to school graduating from UGA with a degree in education. Mike attended seminars conducted by Luther Rice & Oral Roberts. He had two churches to start in July 1994 but God had other plans; Mike had a stroke the Monday before. He was a true intercessor always praying for others. He continued to do that until God took him home.

Funeral services for Mr. John Elbert Wiley will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Griffin First Presbyterian Church. He will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Griffin First Presbyterian Church, 1349 Macon Rd., Griffin, GA 30224 in Mike’s memory.
