

Born in Bainbridge, GA on January 17, 1927, Mrs. Baker was the oldest child of Claude and Marie King. She moved with her family to Griffin in 1947 after she graduated from Bainbridge High School. She met her husband, John T. Baker, III when she was employed at Commercial Bank and Trust Company, and they were married on October 16, 1948. Mrs. Baker lived in Griffin for 68 years, and was a member of Griffin First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Baker retired from the G-S County School System in 1990, having worked at Griffin High School. She was a devoted wife to John for 67 years. Mrs. Baker loved her family, her home, and her friends. She enjoyed reading and cooking.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, John Thomas Baker, III of Griffin; three children, John Thomas Baker, Jr. and his wife, Trellis of Forsyth, Patricia Baker Flynt and her husband Crisp of Griffin, and Elizabeth Baker Todd and her husband Richard of Griffin; five grandchildren, Jill Jones Collier and her husband Richard of Marietta, Russell Steven Jones and his fiancée Jenna Robinson of Griffin, Hayley Todd Mosely and her husband Adam of Griffin, Megan Todd Barnhart and her husband Dillon of Marietta, and Kate Baker Granitz and her husband Ben of Forsyth; seven great-grandchildren, Wesley, Shaley and Audyn Jones, Mary Leigh Collier, Aaron and Harper Mosely, and Blakely Barnhart; and siblings, Eleanor Lyle of Alpharetta, Carol Boone and her husband Jim of Kennesaw and Charles King and his wife Helen of Blythewood, S.C.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn King Baker will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Dr. Med Roach will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Zebulon. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
