

LeGeane K. Brown (Gene), 87 of Williamson, moved to his heavenly home on November 3, 2017. Surrounded by his family he passed away at his home under the loving care of Eternal Hope Hospice. He was born on February 18, 1930 in Baker, Oklahoma to James Thomas Brown and Ruth Gaylor Brown. Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Long Brown; daughter Gail Floyd; grandson Kevin Floyd; brother John W. Brown of Selma, Oregon; sisters-in-law Etna Doyle and Maxine Fallin of Hinesville, GA, and Jeanie Futch of Stallman Bluff. He was saved at age 13 and began teaching Sunday school while still a teen. He taught adult Bible class for many years. He was very involved in all areas of the church; song leader, soloist, deacon, as well as greeter until his health declined. He was a member of Family Worship Center in Griffin. He served in the U.S. Army and was always proud of his country. He was stationed at Fort Stewart in Hinesville where he met his wife-to-be. He decided he liked Georgia, so he has been here for 64 years. He retired from Union Camp Paper Company in Savannah, and from Georgia Pacific Plywood in Durand. Mr. and Mrs. Brown loved to travel, so he retired at age 59 so they could. Not only have they been to all 50 states at least twice, but also took their daughter and grandson to all 50. They enjoyed traveling to Europe as well as cruising.
Visitation and Funeral will be at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home, 1155 Everee Inn Rd. Griffin, GA on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm, and funeral service will be at 3:00 pm. Rev. Billy Anderson and Rev. Jonathan English will officiate. Burial will be in Hinesville City Cemetery on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Barry jones officiating.
