Mary Emily "Mimi" Griffin

Mrs. Mary Emily Wallace Barnes Griffin age 97 of Griffin, passed away Friday October 19, 2012, in Brightmoor Nursing Center.

Mrs. Griffin was born in Butts County on June 8, 1915, to the late John Emmett Wallace and the late Lucy Bell Wallace. She was the wife of the late Earl E. Griffin and was also preceded in death by a son, Lamar Barnes, brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Mildred Wallace, John Bell and Janie Wallace, Emmett Wallace and sister and brother-in-law, Lucy Bell Wallace and Bart Miller, Sr., as well as a special niece Mary Beth Howard. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church.

Survivors include special niece and caregiver Harriett M. Brock and spouse David as well as nephew Bart Miller, Jr. and spouse Pam, all of Griffin; Stepdaughters, Marga Jones and spouse Martin of Birmingham, AL, and Donna Whittington and spouse Gary of Reliance, TN.

Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews as well as several dear cousins who were very special to her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Emily Griffin will be conducted on Monday October 22, 2012, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Bro. Jack Landham will officiate. Interment will follow in Fellowship Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Butts County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from noon until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers the requests donations be directed to Brightmoor Nursing Center Activities Department, 3235 Newnan Road, Griffin, GA 30223 or the Amick Mission Fund of First United Methodist Church, 1401 Maple Drive, Griffin, GA 30224 in memory of Mrs. Griffin.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff of Brightmoor Nursing Center for the loving care given “Mimi” these past five years. You became a part of her family. They would also like to thank Brightmoor Hospice for their special care given to her in the last few days. “God Bless You All.”
