

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Wynette Fuller Jolly and by a son, Victor Franklin Jolly, Jr. Mr. Jolly was former president of Commercial Bank and Trust Company and retired in 1990 after forty years in the banking profession. As an avocation he was an avid tennis player and supporter. He was past president of the Georgia Bankers Association and served for twelve years as Dean of the Georgia Bankers Association Georgia Banking School at the University of Georgia. He also served a five year term on the Governing council of the American Bankers Association. Locally he served as president of the Griffin Rotary Club, Griffin Area Chamber of Commerce, Griffin United Fund and many other civic and charitable capacities. He was a member of Gridiron Secret Society. Mr. Jolly was a member of First Baptist Church and the Bob Cheatham Sunday School Class. He is a graduate of Decatur Boys High School, the University of Georgia, and the School of Banking of the South at LSU. He was a signalman in the Navy during WWII serving in the North African, European and Pacific Theaters.
Mr. Jolly is survived by a son, Albert Fuller Jolly and wife Denise; a daughter, Nanette Jolly Moore and husband Walter Len, and a daughter-in-law, Colleen Gibbons Jolly. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Jolly will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Hardee, Dr. Bruce Morgan and Mr. Robert Jolly will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Dream Fund, The Music Fund or The Benevolence Fund at the First Baptist Church, 106 W. Taylor St., Griffin, GA 30223 or a charity of choice in Mr. Jolly’s memory.
