

Mr. Moore was born January 14, 1925 in Williamson, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having earned the WWII Victory Medal and was a Mason. Mr. Moore was in management at Quality LP Gas and former owner of 3 Phillips 66 Service Stations in Griffin, Stockbridge and Forest Park. Though growing up in the depression and having a minimal education Alton achieved knowledge and skills that allowed him to excel as a successful businessman. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Thomas Moore and Mamie Huckaby Moore Chambers; wife, Jewell Henson Moore; infant daughter, Geraldine Moore and great-granddaughter, Rashelle, whom he is now greeting in Heaven sending her grandmother’s love.
Survivors include children & their spouses, Kathryn June Griffiths & Wyman of New Jersey, Alton E. & Brenda Moore of Indiana, Julie and Mark Bode of Griffin; brothers & their wives, Winston & Francis Moore of Griffin, Everett & Gwen Moore of Griffin; grandchildren, Barbie, Ken, Tammy, Cathy, Michael, Lindsay, Stacey, Kathryn and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Willis Alton Moore will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. Everett Moore will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Brightmoor Hospice, 3247 Newnan Rd., Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mr. Moore.
