

Americo "Rico" DeCiantis was born July 29, 1929 in Detroit MI to Vito and Rosalba. He grew up in the Metro-Detroit area and graduated from Pershing High school. Rico entered into rest at his home in Sterling Heights March 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Rico proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After returning from the service he married the love of his life Esther Paulantonio on July 27th 1946 and the couple enjoyed 70 years of marriage raising four wonderful children. Food and family were the light of Rico's life; nothing was better to him than a good, old fashioned Italian meal and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone was welcome in the DeCiantis household, even if Rico didn't really know who you were; he would invite you in and offer you a plate of food. He truly was one of the friendliest and most generous people you could find anywhere. Proud of his Italian heritage, Rico loved to cook; he also loved tending to his vegetable garden. He grew every veggie imaginable; his philosophy was that you couldn't eat flowers so why grow them? A determined and active person Rico worked as a Cement Mason for many years and was involved in jobs well into his 80's. He was a strong man that powered threw anything life through at him. His strength and wisdom will continue to live on through all of the people who knew him. Rico leaves behind his wife Esther and children Americo Jr, Louis (Jeri), Rosemarie(Mike) Wesner, and Ronnie (Jodi). He was the proud of Richard, Chad (Jessica), J. Christian (Annmarie), Joel, Justin (Amy), Vincent (Sarah), Natalie (Facu), Arianna, Giovanni, Marisa, John (Jackie), James (Marilyn), Michael(Kim), Mark (Carisa) and Patrick; and great grandfather of Ian, Piper, Enzo, Leo, Nico, Gianna, Luca, Isabella, Levi, Hanna, Maggie, Sarah, Madeline, James, Mikey, Katie, Teagan and Baby Marginet who is on the way. A Visitation will be held for Rico Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 2:00-8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at A.H.Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd., at Masonic (13 Mile Road), in Warren. Rico will lie in state Wednesday 9:30am until time of Mass 10:00 am at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S. Nunneley Rd, Clinton Township.
