Dr. Andres Guillermo Santiviago, 83, of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, passed away on September 22, 2026. He was born in Asuncion, Paraguay on August 15, 1943, to the late Andres and Hermelinda (nee Chilavert) Santiviago.
Andres is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Margaret (nee Meier) Santiviago; his loving children, Sergio Santiviago (Mary), and Andrea Shindeldecker (Scott); cherished grandchildren, Theodore Santiviago, Andrew Santiviago, Charlotte Shindeldecker, and Evelyn Shindeldecker; brother and sisters- in law, John Meier (Shelley), the late Michael Meier (Evernne), Mary Johnson (Jerald), Barbara Manning, Carolyn Cortner (Gary), Nancy Betz (Richard); and many cherished nieces, nephews, and godchildren from Paraguay. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog, Daisy and his lap buddy cat, Cinco.
Andres is preceded in death by his loving sister, Wilma Apuril (Gilberto).
Andres was an OB GYN for over 50 years, and even after retirement, was a dedicated teacher. He graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion Faculty of Medicine in 1968. After graduation, Andres practiced medicine in Paraguay and was a proud founding member of the Paraguayan Medical Association. Later, he moved from Paraguay to Michigan and continued his great work at St. John Macomb Hospital and Beaumont Troy Hospital.
