

Angela Palombit Kennedy, age 80, passed peacefully to the arms of her Lord, on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019. She suffered 16 years from Parkinsons disease before succumbing to pneumonia. Predeceased by her husband, Thomas, of 43 years, and daughter, Lisa Fikany (Joe), she is survived by her daughters, Kristin Shatraw (David) and Kara Thompson (Brad), grand-daughters Angela Mnatsakanov, Katie Fikany, and Kamie Berns, grand-sons Joseph Fikany, Jr., Ryan Berns, Casey and Mac Shatraw along with great-grand-daughter, Anna Lisa Fikany, sisters, Louise George (Bob Capstack), Betsy Corona (Rick) and Louis Palombit, Jr.(Janet Coleman, deceased and Angela Cody, deceased) as well as several nieces and nephews. "Angie" attended Dominican High School in Detroit and graduated (Class of 1960) as a Music major from St. Marys College in Notre Dame, Indiana. A resident of St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe Shores for many years, she raised three daughters before purchasing Ruth Carney Dance Studio in Grosse Pointe Woods. There, she and her daughters flourished for next 37 years along with many wonderful teachers led by her proteg, Mary Lou Parker; raising the bar for dance studios throughout Southeast Michigan - winning many regional and national awards, but more importantly leaving a legacy in the community by inspiring so many young girls whom she nurtured. Family will receive friends at 11:00 am before Mass of Resurrection at 12:00 pm at St. Joan of Arc Church, 22412 Overlake Rd., St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. In lieu of flowers, Angie preferred that donations be made to St. Joan of Arc Parish.
