

Angela Roma, age 84, died peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Shorepointe Nursing Center in St. Clair Shores after an extended illness. She was born in Ceccano, Italy on August 26, 1929, the daughter of Antonio and Margarita Roma. She immigrated to Endicott, New York in 1954; went back to Ceccano to marry Fernando Roma in 1956; and the couple eventually settled in Detroit in 1960. When they arrived in Detroit, they were met by Angela's sister, Elettra Roma (Jimmy) and their daughter Alice. Alice married Fred Harvey and had two children; Fred Harvey and Diane Gallagher. Fernando's cousin, Nina Silvaggi (Vince) lived in Livonia. They had two children, Michael and Mary Ann (deceased). Angela was Michael's godmother. Angela spent her life loving and caring for her family. She was a great cook and wonderful wife, mother and Nonna. She imparted wisdom and her cooking skills to her grandchildren. Angela is survived by her loving husband, Fernando; their son, Daniel and his wife Lisa; their grandchildren, Elena and Jack; her niece's husband, Fred Harvey, her great-nephew, Fred Harvey; great-niece, Diane Gallagher and godson, Michael Silvaggi. She was predeceased by her sister, Elettra Roma and her husband, Jimmy; and her niece, Alice Harvey. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. The Holy Rosary will be recited beginning at 7:00 o'clock. Her body will lie instate at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 South Nunneley, Clinton Township from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Guilo Schiavi will be the celebrant.
