Obituary of Ann Marie Galloway
Anna Marie Galloway (nee Bendik) passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022 at her residence in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Ann was born on January 29, 1922 in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania to Martin and Anna Bendik. After high school, Ann moved to Detroit, Michigan to work at Parke-Davis. Her beloved sister, Mary Bendik, joined her there in 1945. The sisters were world travelers and especially enjoyed their many sightseeing trips to Europe. They were rarely apart and lived together for 72 years until Mary’s death in 2017. Ann has resided at Cranberry Park Assisted Living in St. Clair Shores since 2018 and despite the pandemic, she remained active and made many good friends by participating in social events, exercise classes, spiritual services, and “Ladies’ Red Hat” meetings. She celebrated her very special 100th birthday with close family members, caretakers, and fellow residents at Cranberry Park. Ann enjoyed sports, reading, crossword puzzles, bowling, parties, and taking walks. She was well known for her delicious home cooking. She loved to do arts and crafts. She crocheted or knitted many beautiful blankets, colorful kitchen towels, and soft washcloths for family, friends, and charities. Her precise needlepoint designs have graced the interiors of many homes. Ann is survived by her dear sister, Dorothy Tucker (Kelly) and by many loved nieces and nephews in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and Washington. As a long-time parishioner, Ann’s services will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10AM. The family has requested that donations be made in Ann’s memory to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake St., St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
