

Anna Marie Herbon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13th with family by her side at St. John hospital in Detroit. She was born on October 2, 1924 in Detroit: daughter of John Francis and Mattie (nee Crandon) McCloskey. Anna Marie McCloskey married Joseph J. Herbon in Detroit in 1948. They enjoyed forty-eight wonderful years together until his death in 1996. Anna Marie has lived in Grosse Pointe Woods since 1973. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Herbon loved to go to garage sales applying her gift for bargaining on each transaction. She would admit that she hated to cook but would do it three times daily to take care of her family. Her faith was devout as she would attend Mass daily and often times twice a day. She will be missed by all that knew her. She loved her children Mary Ann Girouard (George), Margo Trublowski (John), Joseph A. (Sandra), and Thomas G (Janet). Anna Marie was proud and doted on her grandchildren Nathan and Ellen Girouard; A.J. Trublowski; Brian (Elaine), Kyle, and Sean Herbon; Michelle, Laura (Eric) McHale), John, Amy, and Emily Herbon. She adored her great-granddaughters Leah and Adalyn Girouard. She leaves behind her brother Ronald McCloskey and sister Margaret Lou McCloskey. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Herbon will lie instate on Saturday from 11:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at Noon at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 20955 Bournemouth, Harper Woods. Father William Herman will officiate. She will be interred next to her beloved Joseph in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207.
