Annie Mae Taylor-Warrick was born on September 02, 1955, to the late Olevia Taylor in Greenville Mississippi. She attended school in Mississippi before moving to Detroit, Michigan with her mom and siblings, Annie has been a true Detroiter through and through ever since. Despite venturing out for extended time periods to warmer climates and calmer pastures she always wanted to go back home so she always returned to her home in Detroit, Michigan.
Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She acknowledged, relished, and held-fast to her position as a child of GOD through periodical fasting, daily prayer sessions with her sisters, and consistent prayer with God on her own. Annie regularly sought her biblical feedings and spiritual rejuvenation from Elder Robert Shackleford Jr. Pastor of Greater Whole Truth Church and Bishop Vincent Yancey, Overseer of Returning to Truth Ministries. Annie was an avid student of the bible. She spent hours studying and taking notes of her reading and interpretations. If she had a #2 pencil and lined paper, she was content with spending hours studying the bible. Another favorite pastime was talking to her sisters. She loved them dearly, so very dearly.
Annie’s faith in Christ was evident in the way she treated people and lived her life. She remained loyal and committed to her faith in Christ through her actions of love, patient demeanor, giving spirit, ready smile, sparkly eyes, and selfless service towards others even if it meant sacrificing her own comfortability. Annie was a notable example of what kind, awesome, sweet, genuine, caring, Godly, behavior would look like in the flesh. Annie was not perfect, but she never functioned, as though she was… she simple strived to be, say, and do what she thought was Godly and right.
A young, quiet, and Holy Ghost filled Annie entered holy matrimony with Lester Warrick where they parented seven children. Annie was immeasurably loved and will be greatly missed by each of her seven children, Daniel, Apphia (Chrissy), Melissa Taylor (Meme), Lester Jr. (Big Les), Theodore (Theo), Linda Fae, and Felix.
She was preceded in heavenly rebirth by her mom, Olevia Taylor better known as Momma Lee sister Ernestine Weathers and brother, Tommie Pearson Jr., or Uncle Tommie. Annie was very much loved and will be greatly missed by her sisters, Shirley, Katherine, Willie Pace, her youngest sister Vernella Shackleford, and younger brother Richard Taylor Jr. Her children and grandchildren, Mikayla, Trayvon, Daniel Jr., Desiree, John Jr., Maurice, and Sky, Lester Jr., LaAuna, Layla, Demond, Nakira, Blesyn, Theodore Jr. Heaven, and Dimitri and great grandchild DezWion, and Angel a host of nieces, nephews, immediate and extended family, and friends some of which are not mentioned nor forgotten.
Her children wish to render our most heartfelt thanks to all of you for loving our mom and showing up today to put your support and condolences for her family on display. Annie, Momma, Sister, Auntie, Grandma, Great Grandma, and Friend, you are loved forever, ever, and always, from here on out, we will love you from afar.
Special Note: Rosa-Lynn Cross, thank you for showing up and being present for Annie. You volunteered your time by dropping off dinner, visiting to talk, sneak unapproved treats and comfort food or to just sit and hang with her despite working full-time hours all week in a demanding and mentally taxing career field. We want you to know that you were seen and appreciated in a way that words would not/could not accurately convey. Thank you from the very purest part of Annie’s seven kids. Our very souls, times seven says “THANK YOU ROSALYN” To our cousin Tina, you also showed up many times offering and volunteering to sit and talk with her “just cuz that’s what we do.” You showed up ready to step up and step in whenever I called you whether it was during the day or evening. You made her smile and laugh your visits brightened her day. We sincerely thank you. To all that showed up a couple of weeks ago to mom’s appreciation celebration, we thank you for helping us give our mother her flowers while she was still here with us to receive them. She voiced how she enjoyed seeing everybody and stated that she had a good time. Thank you from us for being a part of my mom’s orbit and thank you to everyone for sharing this moment with us as we say Momma, we will miss you as we live this life without you however, we will continue to move with you in our hearts and mind. We believe you have transcended to a place that we can only pray to see one day. In the meantime, rest easy and above all we hope you KNEW and FELT our love for you even up to the end.
