

Anthony O. "Tony" Weiss died Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the age of 81. Tony worked for the Detroit Times as a general assignment reporter from 1950-1960. For the next three years Tony worked for the Mayor of Warren as an Executive Secretary, general assignment reporter for the Mt. Clemens Daily Monitor-Leader (now The Macomb Daily), and as an Associate Editor of two trade journals for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. From 1963 until 1980, he was a manager of Chrysler-Plymouth Public Relations, National News Department for Chrysler Corp., Dodge Truck Public Relations and Central Area Public Relations Manager for Dodge Car & Truck Division. In 1980, Tony became director of News Relations for GMI Engineering & Management Institute (now Kettering University) while being Vice-President (1981-82) and President (1985) of two independent public relations firms. Tony retired in 1993. Tony was an accredited member of Public Relations Society of America and he was a charter member of the Detroit Press Club, Automotive Press Association, St. Mark Holy Name Society, and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark Catholic Church. He is the beloved husband of the late Mary Clare. Loving father of Michael, Ann Marie (Brian) Bush, Mark, Mary, and Matthew (Jennifer). Cherished grandfather of Lisa, Jessica, Andrea, Jimmy, Erica, Anthony, Dominic, Joshua, and Andrew. Dear brother of Vincent, the late Franklin, and the late Joseph. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 4401 Bart Avenue, Warren, MI 48091. Family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions to American Heart Association or to American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
