

Arleen Gieseking passed away on April 2, 2010 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. She was born on October 18, 1926; daughter of Arthur and Hulda (nee Lietz) Staschke. She married Harry "Bud" Gieseking on June 4, 1949 at St. Mark Lutheran Church on E. Grand Blvd., in Detroit. Arleen led an active life. She loved to bowl. Music was important to Arleen. She enjoyed going to the theater and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and sang in the Church Choir. She volunteered at Cottage Hospital and was a member of Valparaiso University Guild. She leaves behind her children Cynthia Windecker (Mark), John (Cher), Judith Wright (Joe), Patricia Groezinger (Peter), and Mark (Rebecca). She was survived by 11 grandchildren and her brothers Marlyn and Orville "Russ" Staschke. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. She will lie in state Tuesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverend David Eberhard will officiate. Arleen will be entombed next to her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
