

Arthur Raymond Lyle passed away suddenly on December 26, 2018 at the age of 74. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 6, 1944; son of William ONeal and Geraldine (nee Brasser) Lyle. Ray proudly served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. Ray married Gayle Ashal on February 24, 1969. He was a Steam Fitter proudly receiving his 50 year pin with the local Union 636. He was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Church serving as an usher. Ray was active in his childrens lives. He coached his sons little league team and was a Boy Scout leader. He golfed in his younger years and enjoyed watching the Tigers and Red Wings. He was a fan of the University of Michigan and Alabama. He liked to joke around and will be missed by the "guys" having breakfast on Fridays. His biggest love in life was spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents and his half-sister Peggy (Lester) Cash. He is survived by his loving wife Gayle. He was proud of his son Ray (Ellen) and daughter Serina. He adored his grandsons Grant, Zane, and Mitch. He leaves behind his sister Anne (Skip) Courtney; and sister in-law Judy (Bill) Kennedy. He was the uncle of Paul, Goddaughter Heather, Neal, Marvin, Sharon, Mark, Godson Bill, and Jesse. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30th from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm. Mr. Lyle will lie in state on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St Clair Shores.
