

Betty Jo Rush (nee Hall) joined our Lord February 21 after a prolonged debilitating illness. She was a long time resident of Grosse Pointe on Sunningdale Drive and in the Shores on Colonial Road. Born in Arkansas November 4, 1927 she was a graduate of Cass Technical High School, 1945 and Harper Hospital School of Nursing, 1948. She was a staff nurse at Children's Hospital of Michigan when she met and married Dr. William Rush. Together they raised their three children, William Jr., Jeffrey and Janet. Betty Jo was a loving and supportive mother, providing a warm and beautiful home in an always calm demeanor. She pursued her personal interest in art at a lovely studio in the old Sacred Heart Academy under the tutelage of her close friend, Sister Matsusaki. She was prominent in the Grosse Pointe art community. On holidays, for many years, she shared wonderful times with family and friends at the family cottage in Gaylord and at the Otsego Ski Club. In her later years, she continued to pursue her interest in art while fostering a loving relationship with her children and grandparents. She will always be remembered by her loved ones as a caring and dispassionate mother and grandmother. Betty Jo was predeceased by her parents, Jewell and Ira, and her sister, Shirley. Loving mother of Bill (Mendi), Jeff (Rici), and Janet Doyle. Proud grandmother of Katie, Colleen, Kristen and Megan. Former wife of Dr. William Rush. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 11 am at Christ Church Grosse Pointe, 61 Grosse Pointe Blvd, Grosse Pointe Farms.
