

Bonnie Barbara Kitchen (ne Blackman) passed away on November 24, 2019 at age 76. She was born in Detroit and was the daughter of Norman and Stella (ne Traeb) Blackman. Bonnie was the beloved wife of John Kitchen for more than 27 years. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and her sister Arlene Listman.
Bonnie held a B.A. degree from Western Michigan University, a M.A. from the University of Michigan and an Ed.S. from Oakland University. She was a devoted and beloved elementary teacher her entire 29-year career at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods.
She enjoyed her retirement golfing with her husband and friends. Her other interests included knitting, gardening, cooking, and baking. She was a phenomenal cake decorator and knitted countless sweaters for her grandnieces and nephews. Bonnie cherished her many pet dachshunds. She was an active parishioner of St. Gertrudes Catholic Church and served as a member of church council.
Bonnie will be missed by her sister, Jenny McAtee (Rick). She was the loving aunt of William Listman (Stephanie), Jennifer Barthel (David), Robert Listman (Maryann), and John McAtee (Veronica). Additionally, she had nine great nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed greatly.
Visitation Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack, Grosse Pointe Woods. Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
She will be entombed next to her husband at Resurrection Cemetery.
