Bradley (Brad) Peabody, 72, of Grosse Pointe Woods, died peacefully at home on January 15. Devoted husband of Marilyn (Lynn) for 48 years, father of Eric, Jennifer and Gregg, and grandfather of Molly and Jimmy, Brad was a true "family man" whose generous spirit and abiding love of family and friends will remain an inspiration to all who knew him. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Brad is survived by his siblings Susan Clark, Betsy Rowe, Jane Fennessy and Clifford Peabody, and his stepmother Marjorie Stapleton. After family and friends, Brad's great love was his work. He was a life-long employee of National Garages, Inc., a parking management firm founded by his grandfather and great uncle. Brad worked his way up the ranks and served as president of National for the last 20 years of his career until his retirement in 1998. He was an admired and greatly respected expert in the parking industry and served on the board of advisors of the International Parking Institute. Brad loved the employees of National Garages like a second family. When he wasn't working, Brad enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was a master gardener who received several city beautification awards for the spectacular gardens he designed and created. Brad also loved Michigan's lakes, boating, and spending time with family and friends on or near the water. He was an avid reader, computer gamer, and classical music aficionado. Brad loved to cook (and eat!) and was working on a cookbook at the time of his death. Brad's health had steadily declined in the past few years, but he rarely complained. As much as we will miss him, we find comfort and peace in knowing that his suffering has ended. In lieu of flowers, the Peabody family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Brain Injury Association ("BIA") of Michigan, 7305 Grand River, Suite 100, Brighton, MI 48114-7379. www.biami.org
