

Cecil Byron Jewett Jr. (Bob) September 11, 1915 - April 16, 2016 Husband to the late Dorothy, father of Thomas Jewett (Adriana) and Judy Chandler (Burke). Grandfather of Amiee DiBrango (Ron), Emily Krawczyk (Jay), Thomas Michael (Niki), Lynley and Courtney Chandler. Great grandchildren Adrian, Luca, Eden, Carson, Griffin, Mia, Taylor, Jackson, Anna and Patrick. "Bob", as he like to be called was born in Stonega, Virginia and raised in St. Clair Shores. He married his high school sweetheart and lived in Grosse Pointe Woods for 65 years. After serving in the Army during WWII, he joined General Motors Corporation working at the Tech Center in Warren for 30 years. While at the Tech Center he managed the building of the GM's "dream cars" including the first Corvette. While working on the Corvette, he invented the molding process that allowed the Corvette to go into production. A gifted wood worker who was known as the "go to guy" in making anything. Fishing, hydroplane racing and travel were some of Bob's favorite hobbies. The thing he loved most was his family especially his grandchildren. "Silver Papa", as his grandchildren called him, will be missed but it is comforting to know he is back with his high school sweetheart. No visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service Wednesday 11 am at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, 38425 Garfield, Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ted Lindsay Foundation for Autism, 1819 Big Beaver Suite 200, Troy, MI 48083.
