Claude A Richards

Claude A. Richards passed away at Ascension, St John Hospital in Detroit on November 10, 2021, at the age of 77. He was born on September 28, 1944, in Dover, Delaware; the son of Claude and Anna Richards.

He leaves behind his life-long sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years; Jane. A proud father to Amy Wetzel (Scott) and Anne Nearhood (Ruben). He adored his grandchildren Emma, Jack, and Katherine who lovingly referred to him as Papa. He will be missed by his brother John (Janice) and his nieces Sarah Burton (Steve) and Rebecca Richards.

As a young man, Claude enjoyed time at their family cottage with days of fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Claude was happiest with his family and spending time with his large extended family. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and caring for his Old-English rose garden. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his love of politics, and his caring heart. Claude’s biggest love in life was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14th from 3:00 pm until 7:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Funeral Mass for Claude will be held on Monday, November 15th at 12:00 NOON at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church.
