It is always so sad to see the best taken too soon. I went to school with Colten. He always knew how to brighten up the room, just with a simple smile. He will be missed but never forgotten. Sending my best thoughts and prayers to your family.

Colten was one of the main reasons why to this day I consider my Middle School years at WWCS some of the best of my life. He made me laugh like no other. Not only was he the backbone of the greatest basketball team I have ever been a part of, but he was a friend like no other. He was strong and confident. The world has lost a great young man. My heart aches with you.

We are so saddened by the loss of Colten. When Colten dated our daughter Madison, we were able to spend time with him. We found him to be respectful, engaging, funny, and nice. He spoke so fondly of your entire family and it was clear your family was close. May your beautiful memories of Colten sustain and bring comfort to your family during this difficult time. I first met Colten about two months ago in my history class. In the short time that I sat next to him, I could tell how great of person he really was. He could start a conversation with anyone and was very friendly. Colten was always cracking jokes with our teacher and filling our quiet classroom with laughter. I am very thankful that I got to know and talk to Colten because he was truly fun person to sit by everyday. I know he will be missed so dearly at Ford. Your family is in my thoughts in prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. Colten was so big hearted and fun loving. He had an amazing magnetic personality and sense of humor to match that you just could not help but to love the instant you met him. We knew when we first met him, after that football game, why Lucas and him had became such tight friends so quickly at DLS. Lucas loved spending time with him so much. He was always a complete JOY to have at our house and I will always remember our conversations and how much he made us all laugh. We are so saddened by this loss yet just the the thought of Colten will always make us smile when we think of the fun memories with him. We are lifting your family up in prayer. I never had Colton in class but spent some time with him in Saturday school. He was the nicest kid, always said hello to me after spending that Saturday morning together. We had many great conversations about a broad range of topics. His charisma and charm will be greatly missed. Truly heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers are with you Garvey family.

Tammy, Claude, and Sydnee—We are so very sorry to hear about Colten and wanted to give our condolences to your family at this very difficult time. I met Colten when he was in 7th grade at WWCS and knew him best in 7th and 8th grades.  One sunny, yet 20 degree day, I picked up Jordan from WWCS to drive home after school. We saw Colten walking (winter coat + basketball shorts!). I rolled down the car window, and we had this conversation: Me: Colten, where you headed? Him: Just walking home. Me: You want a ride? It’s really not much trouble, and it’s a little cold out. Him (w/ big smile on face): Nah, no big deal, I’m good, really. Me (in my best Tammy/slightly stern voice): Colten, just get in the car. I’ll save you 15 minutes’ time too. Him (still big smile on face): Okay, sure. I drove him home maybe 15-20 times after that. He was always very polite, and we talked a lot about his football practices, basketball, aspirations, games, and school. He always parted with “Thanks for the ride again, Mr. Carley”. Good looking, polite, helpful, strong, and a very nice “kid”/young man.

I worked at WWCS when Colten, or as I teasingly called him "Pedro" because of his full blown mustache, attended there. He was so funny and sweet and always smiling.
