Corrine G. Ballew

Corrine Ballew was born to Dora Lee and Milton August Carlson on October 3rd 1951.She was the youngest of 6 children born to that union. Corrine was born in McKeesport, PA. and raised in Liberty Borough, PA. She graduated from South Allegheny High School, class of 1969. Corrine attended Clarion State College in Clarion, PA. Corrine met Richard Ballew while both were working in Montana. They were later married in Detroit, MI on April 3rd 1987. Born to this union were 2 sons, William and Jonathan. William, now married to Melodie, entered the Marines following his graduation and did a tour of duty in Iraq. Jonathan is now attending Macomb Community College. Corrine was very proud of her husband and two sons. Known far and wide for her baking, Corrine was most recently employed by Breadsmith Bakery in Grosse Pointe. She has passed this gift on to her son Jonathan. Corrine will be most remembered for her quick wit and her generosity. Corrine was raised in the Christian faith and was baptized on a beautiful Easter Sunday. She entered her eternal rest on April 7th 2010, following an extended struggle with injuries from a car accident in 2009. Corrine was preceded in death by her parents, Milton August Carlson Sr., 1989 and Dora Lee (Matheny) Carlson in 1966. Corrine left behind her devoted husband Rick, 2 sons, William and Jonathan and a new daughter-in-law, Melodie. She also leaves behind 3 brothers, Milton August Carlson, Jr, and James Lee Carlson and wife Diane, all of California, and brother Terry David Carlson of Pittsburgh, PA. She also leaves behind 2 sisters, Sandy Ellen Carlson (Yeagley) of Pittsburgh and Marsha and husband Rev. Dennis FitzPatrick of Bytheville, Arkansas. On the Ballew side of the family Corrine leaves behind Tom, Patrick and Michael, Kathy, Kelly, Molly, Barbara and Beverly. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country. There will be a memorial service and picnic scheduled for early summer as she had requested.
